Research Interests
Coming from an architectural and professional planning background my initial research interests lay in the fields of urban design, conservation and planning practice. More recently I have been involved in public participation in planning – particularly the innovative consultation exercises associated with the Regional Development Strategy for Northern Ireland and the Belfast Metropolitan Area Plan. At an international level, I was a member of the EU Cost Action team on comparative European practice in relation to urban development in urban outskirts and I am now UK Representative on the EU Cost Action Management Committee for Environment and Transport. This European network is currently being used for comparative study on the Contested Cities Urban Universities research project.
